A 62-year-old man has been charged with voluntary manslaughter following the death of his partner in Antibes. The suspect had already been convicted about fifteen years ago for killing his wife and was released in 2022 after several years in prison.
On Wednesday morning, the man in his sixties himself alerted emergency services, claiming he had discovered his 52-year-old partner unresponsive when he woke up. Initial findings at the scene quickly led investigators to suspect foul play.
Evidence suggests possible asphyxiation
According to the Grasse prosecutor's office, initial examinations revealed signs consistent with asphyxiation. An autopsy will now be performed to determine the precise circumstances of the death.
Already sentenced in 2011 to 18 years in prison for the murder of his first wife, the man is now facing new legal proceedings for alleged femicide. The investigation is ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the victim's death.
