Colmar: Off-duty police officer stabbed at train station by a woman

An off-duty gendarme was seriously injured in a stabbing on Wednesday, August 5, near the Colmar train station in the Haut-Rhin department. The incident occurred shortly after noon. The officer, who was in civilian clothes, reportedly tried to intervene to calm an argument between two women. One of them then stabbed him. He was immediately treated by firefighters and paramedics, and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The suspect was immediately apprehended.

The suspect was apprehended at the scene by police and gendarmes. She was then taken into custody. The exact circumstances of the attack remain unclear. The woman's identity and the reasons for the altercation have not been released at this stage of the investigation.

The off-duty gendarme's intervention demonstrates a professional reflex in the face of a conflict situation. Law enforcement was quickly mobilized on the scene to secure the area and make the arrest. The Colmar public prosecutor's office will determine the criminal charges to be brought against the suspect.
