Since Bruce's aphasia diagnosis was announced in the spring of 2022, his condition has worsened and now the diagnosis is more precise: Frontotemporal Dementia, (better known as FTD). Unfortunately, communication difficulties aren't the only symptom of Bruce's illness. Although this situation is painful, it is a relief to finally have a more precise diagnosis.

This disease is a neurodegenerative disease, which attacks the neurons of the brain. It resembles Alzheimer's disease in its effects, but unlike Alzheimer's, frontotemporal dementia mainly affects the frontal lobe, which is located behind the forehead, and the temporal lobe which is located at the back of the brain.
