The Prime Minister's office responded Wednesday to accusations brought before the courts following France Inter's revelation of a report concerning suicides and attempted suicides within the civil service. In a letter seen by AFP, the Prime Minister's office addressed the various cases mentioned and presented a significantly different version of events. The case involves a civil servant who attempted suicide and filed a complaint, another attempted suicide, two suicides, and one suspicious death.

A counter-attack from Matignon

A report of workplace harassment and endangering others was filed in June with the Paris prosecutor, leading to the opening of a preliminary investigation. The Prime Minister's office is now pointing to the responsibility of the civil servant who attempted suicide, thus contesting the characterization of the events presented in the initial complaint. This counter-offensive aims to challenge the accusations levelled against the administration.

The case revealed on Monday sheds light on a series of tragedies that occurred within the Prime Minister's office. The conflicting accounts of events between the complainant and the Prime Minister's office will now be examined by the courts as part of the ongoing investigation.
