Sébastien Lecornu has released €12 million for the Landes and Gironde departments, which were devastated by the July wildfires. The minister visited Le Porge on Sunday evening, a trip that was not on his official schedule. He continues his visit to Gironde on Monday, where he is meeting with residents affected by the forest fires that ravaged several towns in the department.
Accelerated reconstruction for disaster victims
Those affected by the fire will be able to rebuild quickly. Lecornu promises that building permits will be issued within a month to allow families to rebuild their homes destroyed by the flames. This measure aims to accelerate reconstruction in the hardest-hit areas, particularly in Le Porge, where several dozen homes were reduced to ashes.
The fire that ravaged the Landes region is now contained, according to the prefecture. Firefighters managed to bring the flames under control after several days of intense firefighting. However, the monitoring system remains in place to prevent any flare-ups in the context of persistent drought.
