More fear than harm for this septuagenarian from Brittany. On Monday, June 2, around 14 p.m., a 74-year-old man was involved in an accident while paragliding in Pénestin, a coastal town in southern Morbihan, on the border with Loire-Atlantique. His wing got caught on the wall, and he found himself stuck on a cliff near Mine d'Or beach. Emergency services were quickly alerted and rushed to the scene.
No trauma observed
Twelve firefighters were mobilized, including a specialized team from the Perilous Environment Reconnaissance and Intervention Group (GRIMP), tasked with securing the paraglider and hoisting him to safety. The man escaped unharmed. The Vannes gendarmerie confirmed that he was not injured and did not wish to be taken to hospital. Despite his mishap, the septuagenarian kept his cool, thus avoiding any serious accident. A scare that could have turned into a tragedy without the rapid intervention of emergency services.
