Paris: Woman killed by hit-and-run driver, two suspects arrested

A woman died Saturday afternoon in Paris's 2nd arrondissement after being struck by a speeding car. The driver hit the victim violently before fleeing the scene without providing assistance. Emergency responders could only pronounce the pedestrian dead at the scene.

Two arrests, one suspect on the run

Two men in their twenties were arrested in the 18th arrondissement. They were in the vehicle involved, which had Polish license plates. A third suspect is still at large. The investigation continues to locate this last occupant.

The public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation for aggravated road homicide. The circumstances under investigation are deliberate negligence and hit-and-run. The judicial accident investigation unit has been assigned to the case. The two men taken into custody will have to explain the circumstances of the tragedy and their attempted escape.
