Presidential election 2027: Michaël Delafosse lends his support to Raphaël Glucksmann

Michaël Delafosse has chosen his candidate for the left-wing primary. In an opinion piece published this Sunday, August 30th, in La Tribune Dimanche , the Socialist mayor of Montpellier announced his support for Raphaël Glucksmann, whom he considers "the best placed to embody hope on the left."

The Montpellier representative particularly emphasizes the international stature of the leader of Place Publique. He praises his "mastery of international issues," which he considers essential for supporting Ukraine against Russia, defending the two-state solution in the Middle East, and pursuing a diplomacy committed to human rights.

Building a "rainbow coalition"

Michaël Delafosse also believes that Raphaël Glucksmann is best placed to unite people beyond Place Publique and the Socialist Party. He calls for the formation of a "rainbow coalition" bringing together different left-wing sensibilities, notably social democrats and environmentalists.

The mayor of Montpellier also emphasizes social justice, public services, the environment, and ending dependence on fossil fuels. He warns against a left wing that would leave unaddressed concerns related to social decline, housing, or the erosion of public services, arguing that it would then leave the field open to the National Rally.

This new endorsement strengthens Raphaël Glucksmann just weeks before the primary. Following Carole Delga, Boris Vallaud, and Yannick Jadot, the Place Publique candidate continues to garner support from prominent figures on the social-democratic and environmental left.
