Carole Delga officially announced on Thursday, August 27, her support for Raphaël Glucksmann for the 2027 presidential election. The socialist president of the Occitanie region believes that the leader of Place publique is "the best candidate on the left to win" and to embody a social-democratic line clearly distinct from La France insoumise.
Appearing on TF1, the former Secretary of State praised Raphaël Glucksmann's "European experience" and his commitment to a "republican left." According to her, the MEP is capable of "building a strong France within a sovereign Europe" while tackling inequality, particularly through wage increases and greater resources for national education.
Carole Delga closes the door on LFI
The president of the Occitanie region also reaffirmed her opposition to any rapprochement with La France Insoumise (LFI). She believes that LFI does not share our international vision and denounces "anti-Semitic tendencies" within its ranks. This stance aligns with that of Raphaël Glucksmann, who also rejects any presidential alliance with Jean-Luc Mélenchon 's movement.
This new endorsement strengthens Raphaël Glucksmann just weeks before the primary organized with the Socialist Party. Following Yannick Jadot and several Socialist leaders, the Place Publique candidate continues to broaden his support within the social-democratic sphere, even though he currently trails Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the polls on the left.
