The American sports media company, Sportico , has published its ranking of the 100 highest-paid athletes in 2024. At the top of the list is Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo , who has accumulated a total income of $260 million.
According to Sportico , the combined earnings of these athletes amount to approximately $6,2 billion, of which $1,4 billion comes from advertising and sponsorship contracts, registering a 14% increase compared to the previous year.
This ranking includes athletes from eight different disciplines, illustrating the considerable economic importance of sport at a global level.
Ronaldo tops the ranking
With a total of $260 million, Cristiano Ronaldo maintains his status as the highest-earning athlete. His impressive income comes largely from his salary with Saudi club Al-Nassr, which stands at $215 million, as well as $45 million generated from sponsorship deals and other commercial partnerships.
Stephen Curry and Tyson Fury complete the podium
American basketball player Stephen Curry climbs to second place with earnings of $153,8 million, solidifying his status in the NBA. British boxer Tyson Fury occupies third position with $147 million, following a string of impressive victories.
No women among the top 100
For the second year in a row, no sportswoman appears in this ranking. American tennis player Coco Gauff is the female athlete who generated the most income, with a total of $30,4 million, an amount well below the athletes in the top 100.
