French citizens living abroad are more worried about geopolitics and French education.

The fourth barometer of the French Abroad Association (ADFE) has just been published. This biennial survey reveals two growing concerns among French people living outside of France: geopolitics and access to French education abroad.

Every two years, the association Français du Monde-ADFE surveys French expatriates to gauge their concerns. The fourth edition of this barometer, published in 2026, reveals two striking trends compared to previous surveys.

The first concerns geopolitics. Concerns related to international tensions are clearly increasing among respondents, reflecting a global context perceived as more unstable.

The second concerns French education abroad. French people living outside of France are questioning the accessibility of this school network, whether in terms of cost, availability or geographical proximity.

Stéphane Arnoux, general delegate of the association Français du Monde-ADFE, is responsible for presenting and analyzing these results.
