The rally organized by the European radical left in support of Palestine will indeed take place next Thursday in Strasbourg, but in a different venue than originally planned. Organizers announced that the event would go ahead after abandoning the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès, where the demonstration, which was to be attended by several political figures and the rapper Médine, was scheduled to be held.
Led in particular by members of La France Insoumise and organizations supporting the Palestinian cause, the meeting is scheduled to take place during the European Parliament session. Its aim is to conclude a campaign calling for the suspension of the association agreement between the European Union and Israel, an initiative that its promoters claim has garnered over a million signatures.
Disagreement over the event format
The controversy arose after a poster was circulated highlighting Médine's participation. The managers of the venue initially booked explained that they had been informed of a public meeting, not an event including a musical performance. The organizers dispute this version and maintain that the possibility of a concert had been included in their application for several weeks.
Several prominent figures from La France Insoumise (LFI), including Rima Hassan and Manon Aubry, are expected to participate in this demonstration. Médine's presence continues to generate controversy due to past disputes related to some of his statements and social media posts. The organizers, for their part, denounce an attempt to prevent the event from taking place and assure that the program will be maintained in its entirety.
