A 38-year-old man was found dead in Lorraine; an investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of his death.

The discovery was made on Wednesday in Toul, Meurthe-et-Moselle. A 38-year-old man was found dead in his apartment after several days without contacting his family and friends. Concerned by his unusual silence, relatives decided to go to his home and made the grim discovery.

According to initial findings by investigators, the victim had two stab wounds. The body, already in a state of rigor mortis, suggests that death occurred several hours, or even several days, before it was discovered.

Investigators are exploring the possibility of foul play.

The case has several unanswered questions. The apartment door was locked from the inside and the keys were still in the lock when relatives arrived. One of them nevertheless managed to get inside before alerting emergency services and the police.

The investigation has been entrusted to the police to determine the exact circumstances of the death. An autopsy was to be performed to establish the cause of death and clarify the origin of the injuries observed. Investigators are particularly interested in the victim's lifestyle, who, according to initial findings, was described as a drug user.
