Hassen Chalghoumi: "July 14th reminds us of what unites us."

Imam Hassen Chalghoumi, president of the Conference of Imams of France, published this text in the columns of Rupture magazine on the occasion of the national holiday.

July 14th is also an opportunity to pay tribute to those who protect our country.

First and foremost, on this day of remembrance, I offer a heartfelt thought and a prayer for all the women and men who gave their lives for France. They fell defending our freedom, our Republic, our sovereignty, and the values ​​that unite us today. Their sacrifice must never be forgotten. We owe them our eternal gratitude, as well as to their families who honor their memory with dignity.

July 14th is much more than a national holiday. It is a day that reminds us of what unites us deeply: liberty, equality, fraternity, respect for the Republic and love of France.

On this day of celebration, I want to extend, from the bottom of my heart, my sincerest wishes to all French women and men. May this celebration be a moment of joy, pride, and hope.

July 14th is also an opportunity to pay tribute to those who protect our country with courage and dedication: our military, our law enforcement, our police officers, our gendarmes, our firefighters, and all the women and men who serve the Nation. Their commitment deserves our recognition and respect.

Our history teaches us that France is always stronger when it is united. Faced with wars, Nazi occupation, terrorism, and all attacks directed against the Republic, our people have always known how to come together to defend freedom and human dignity. This legacy compels us.

Even today, in a world marked by crises, international tensions, and the threats of extremism, we must preserve this national unity. Those who seek to divide the French people through hatred, fanaticism, or exclusionary rhetoric must never prevail. Our response must be fraternity, dialogue, and fidelity to republican values.

France also draws its strength from its human capital, from the diversity of its talents, backgrounds, and cultures, united around a shared republican ideal. This diversity, when it is exercised within the framework of respect for the laws of the Republic and our common values, constitutes a true asset for our country.

I would also like to commend the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron , as well as all the civil and military authorities who are making this day a moment of national gathering and tribute to those who serve France.

On this July 14th, let us maintain our faith in our Republic. Let us keep hope alive. Let us remain united around what brings us together rather than what divides us. It is together that we will preserve our freedom, our peace, and the future of our Nation.
