Kaporal

It's the end of an era for French ready-to-wear. The Marseille commercial court yesterday ordered the liquidation of the Marseille brand without further activity. Kaporal, thus bringing to an end more than 20 years of existence. This decision will impact 250 jobs, mainly distributed between the head office based in Marseille and the brand's stores.

An iconic brand in great difficulty

Founded in 2004, Kaporal established itself in the French market with a style inspired by American denim, riding the wave of the trend for accessible and casual jeans. For several years, the brand experienced rapid growth before suffering from increased competition from fast-fashion giants.

Already weakened, Kaporal was placed in receivership and taken over by three of the group's managers in July 2023. But sales did not meet the expectations of the three buyers, and the debts were insurmountable from this context.

An inevitable end

Faced with the absence of a solid buyer, the courts have therefore ruled: compulsory liquidation has been declared, with no possibility of continuing operations. The company's 250 employees are now directly affected by this court decision, which thus marks the end of a Marseille adventure that began more than 20 years ago.
