A 58-year-old gymnastics instructor was charged on July 23 with several sexual offenses allegedly committed against underage students in the Yvelines department. The man worked in several sports clubs in the department and had been practicing for about thirty years.
He is being prosecuted for, among other things, sexual assault of a minor under 15, sexual assault by abuse of authority, sexual and psychological harassment, and violence against a minor without causing injury. At this stage, about ten young girls are considered alleged victims.
The educator placed under judicial supervision
The investigation began after a 13-year-old girl gave a statement to the Septeuil police in March. She reported being touched inappropriately on several occasions during lessons given by this instructor two years earlier. Investigators then linked her account to other similar reports.
The man in his fifties has been placed under judicial supervision. He is now prohibited from practicing his profession as well as any professional or volunteer activity involving regular contact with minors. The investigation, entrusted to the Mantes-la-Jolie research brigade, is ongoing.
