Tensions between Warsaw and Kyiv: Poland accuses Ukraine of failing to deliver promised drone technology

Relations between Poland and Ukraine have become strained again following statements by the Polish Defense Minister, who claims that Ukraine has not honored its commitments regarding the transfer of drone technology. This situation has reignited diplomatic friction despite Warsaw's continued military support.

Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz told public radio that commitments made by Kyiv had not been honored, particularly in the context of an exchange involving military equipment.

According to these discussions, Poland considered transferring MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in exchange for access to drone technology developed by Kyiv. These negotiations, which have been ongoing for several months, have not yet yielded any concrete results.

Since the start of the Russian invasion in 2022, Poland has been one of Ukraine's main sources of military and logistical support. The country also serves as a strategic platform for the delivery of Western aid to Kyiv.

However, relations between the two countries have already been marked by tensions, particularly concerning historical disputes and agricultural issues. These topics continue to fuel disagreements despite ongoing military cooperation.

Recent exchanges illustrate the complexity of relations between the two neighbors, at a time when the war in Ukraine continues to weigh on the diplomatic and security balances in Central and Eastern Europe.
