Patrick Bruel is facing three new complaints of sexual violence. Two allege rape. The third concerns sexual assault of a minor. The complaints were filed on June 25 and July 1 with the Nanterre court and the Parisian investigative services handling the case. These new legal proceedings add to an already substantial case against the 67-year-old singer and actor.
A procedure that is already well advanced
Patrick Bruel was formally charged on June 10 in four cases, including rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment. He was released under judicial supervision, despite the prosecution's request for his pretrial detention.
Strict judicial control
Judicial supervision imposes several obligations: prohibition from leaving French territory, prohibition from contacting the complainants and their relatives, prohibition from going to a massage parlor, obligation to provide proof of psychological treatment and payment of a bond of 500,000 euros.
These are facts that have been reported over several years.
The legal case concerns accusations spanning a long period. The facts already examined by the judges relate in particular to accusations dating back to 2008, 2010, 2012, 2015 and 2019, with different classifications depending on the case: rape, attempted rape, sexual assault or sexual harassment.
In addition to these three new complaints, another woman has appealed a judges' decision that her rape complaint was time-barred. This appeal aims to obtain a new review of this part of the case.
