Armenia's Constitutional Court has rejected the appeal filed by the pro-Russian opposition seeking to overturn the results of the June parliamentary elections. This decision confirms the victory of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's party and puts an end to the main legal dispute related to the election.

The opposition alliance "Strong Armenia," which came in second with 23,3% of the vote, contested the results, denouncing electoral irregularities. It demanded the annulment of the vote, but the country's highest court ruled that the evidence presented was insufficient to overturn the official results.

Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party won a resounding victory with nearly 50% of the vote, thus retaining its majority in Parliament. The election campaign was marked by tension, with the opposition accusing the authorities of arresting several of its candidates and supporters before the vote.

International observers, however, indicated that the elections were conducted in a generally satisfactory manner in the majority of polling stations. This decision by the Constitutional Court strengthens the position of Nikol Pashinyan, who is pursuing a policy of rapprochement with Western countries amid increasingly strained relations between Armenia and Russia.
