Weather: Showers and snow returning to the east, sunny spells in the west this Thursday

On Thursday, France remains under the influence of contrasting weather, with unsettled and cool conditions in the northeast and east-central regions, while the west enjoys calmer weather under the influence of a high-pressure system. Showers are prevalent in the east, sometimes accompanied by snow at lower elevations.

From the morning, sunny spells will prevail across the western half of the country, while the sky will remain cloudier elsewhere. Showers are expected near the Pyrenees, with snow falling above 700 meters. From the northeast to the east-central regions, sunny spells will alternate with threatening clouds, bringing showers and sometimes snow even to the plains, particularly in the Ardennes and Lorraine. Temperatures will remain low, ranging from 0 to 4°C across much of the northern half of the country.

This afternoon, unsettled weather will persist from the north of the Seine to the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, with further showers, sometimes turning to snow in the mountains. In the west, the weather will remain calmer with some clouds and sunny spells. Sunshine will also prevail around the Mediterranean, despite strong mistral and tramontane winds.

In the evening, the weather gradually calms down across most of the country with clearing skies. Temperatures drop rapidly, confirming that it remains cool for this time of year.
