Weather: deteriorating conditions in the south and a return of cooler temperatures this Sunday

After a mostly sunny Saturday, the weather deteriorates on Sunday, particularly in the southern half of the country. A cold front from Switzerland brings clouds and showers from the southwest to the east, reaching the Mediterranean coast. It will feel much less spring-like with a drop in temperatures and the return of a noticeable northeasterly wind.

From the morning, showers will affect the south and southeast, with overcast skies and a cool feel, exacerbated by the north wind. In the mountains, snow will return above 1000 meters in the Alps and the Massif Central. Further north, the weather will remain generally dry but occasionally hazy, with temperatures between 1 and 8°C at sunrise.

The afternoon will remain unsettled in the southeast and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region with persistent showers and snow at higher elevations. Elsewhere, the sky will be calmer but often cloudy, particularly near the English Channel. Temperatures will vary across the region, with only 12°C during the showers in the east, compared to 17 to 19°C from the southwest to the west-central regions.

In the evening, the showers will gradually ease, except near the Mediterranean where unsettled weather will persist. Across the rest of the country, the weather will become calm again under mostly cloudy skies, with generally cooler temperatures.
