Ajaccio: A teenager wounded by gunfire during a police check related to an urban rodeo

A teenager born in 2009 was shot in the foot during the night of Thursday, August 27th to Friday, August 28th, in Sarrola-Carcopino, on the outskirts of Ajaccio. The incident occurred around 2:00 AM in the Atrium industrial zone, while the minor was being stopped by an anti-crime squad patrol during a motorcycle stunt.

The origin of the shot remains to be determined. According to several sources close to the investigation, investigators are currently focusing on the theory that a local resident, fed up with the disturbances caused by these motorized gatherings, fired the shot. However, no suspect has been officially identified, and the exact circumstances of the injury are still being established.

An investigation has been opened for attempted homicide.

The Ajaccio prosecutor's office has opened an investigation for attempted homicide, which has been entrusted to the Ajaccio research brigade. The investigation will notably seek to determine the shooter's location, identify the weapon used, and clarify the sequence of events during the police check. Details regarding the young man's condition have not been released beyond his injury to his right foot.

Urban rodeos are a frequent target of police intervention in the Ajaccio metropolitan area. In May 2025, a young man was seriously injured after a fall while attempting a wheelie in the city center.
