This Saturday, May 25, Éric Antoine will be the guest of Jade and Éric Dussart in the weekly show “On refait la télé” on RTL. The opportunity for him to talk about the new version of Juste Prix which he has been hosting since March 11 on M6. Launched in 1987 on TF1 with Max Meynier, this cult game has seen iconic hosts such as Patrick Roy (1988-1992), Philippe Risoli (1992-2001) and Vincent Lagaf' (2009-2015). Succeeding in these figures is not an easy task, but Éric Antoine must also face an unexpected challenge: the behavior of certain candidates towards him.
In an extract from the show revealed by Télé-Loisirs, Éric Antoine confirms an unusual request made by production to the Just Price candidates: stop jumping on the host when they are happy. " Yes, it's true. For several years, people have taken me for a teddy bear. They stop me in the street and ask 'Can I give you a hug?' and, at the Right Price, the hug becomes a jump for joy. They jump on me as if I were a tree, a eucalyptus, and they were koalas! », he says with humor.
Éric Antoine shares an experience where a particularly enthusiastic candidate caused him pain. “I want cuddles, but don’t jump on me,” he explains. A 90 kg candidate, after winning several quads, threw himself into his arms at the end of the show, causing real pain in the host. “He jumped into my arms. Plus, it was at the end of the show and there was some steam,” he remembers, adding that he was “really sore” that time.
Following this incident, production decided to prohibit candidates from jumping for joy on Éric Antoine for security reasons. The host, known for his large size and welcoming nature, had to implement this rule to avoid injuries. “I know that there are facilitators who don't want to be touched, that doesn't pose a problem for me,” he explains, while emphasizing the need to set limits to preserve one's health.
Despite this new instruction, Éric Antoine ensures that the atmosphere on the Juste Prix set remains warm and friendly, while being more secure for him.
