Immigration: Bruno Retailleau wants to isolate Spain after the mass regularization of migrants

Tensions are rising over the issue of migration in Europe. Bruno Retailleau, president of the Republicans party, has strongly criticized the policies of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez following the announcement of the regularization of nearly 500.000 undocumented immigrants. He considers this decision "contrary to the European spirit."

Appearing on LCI, Bruno Retailleau stated his intention to "isolate Spain from European nations," arguing that this measure could have direct repercussions for France. According to him, these migrants granted legal status could then cross borders to settle in France.

The presidential candidate also advocates for the reinstatement of border controls, which he considers legitimate in the event of a migration crisis. He asserts that he can rely on a stronger European approach to immigration, pointing out that several countries have already tightened their legislation.

This departure marks a new stage in the debate on migration management in Europe, as Spain remains one of the main gateways to the continent, particularly via the Canary Islands, alongside Italy and Greece.
