In an interview with Télérama on the occasion of the launch of the seventh season of C ce soir , Karim Rissouli claims for his France 5 program a "role of public utility" in the lead-up to the 2027 presidential election. A statement that is all the more striking as he places it in a context where, according to him, the result of the election could "change the face of our country if the RN wins".
The presenter explains that he wants to maintain a space for dialogue, reflection, and critical distance on "C ce soir " in the face of clashes, the hysteria of the debate, and misinformation. Taken in isolation, this objective aligns with the traditional missions of a public service broadcaster: to inform democratic debate and facilitate the exchange of ideas. However, the explicit reference to a potential victory for the National Rally gives his remarks a more political tone.
A delicate line between public service mission and political commitment
The issue is all the more sensitive given that France Télévisions is bound by requirements of neutrality, pluralism, and impartiality. In this context, the fact that a presenter directly links the role of his program to the risk of a National Rally victory could fuel criticism of the public broadcaster's editorial line.
However, it would be excessive to claim that Karim Rissouli explicitly acknowledges waging a "militant battle" against the RN: that is not what he says.
