The Paris Assize Court has announced that the trial of Loïk Le Priol and Romain Bouvier, accused of the murder of former Argentinian rugby player Federico Martin Aramburu, will be held from September 5 to 27, 2026. This decision comes more than four years after the events, which occurred on March 19, 2022.
The circumstances of the tragedy
On March 19, 2022, 42-year-old Federico Martin Aramburu was with his friend and former teammate Shaun Hegarty on the terrace of a bar on Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris. An altercation broke out with Loïk Le Priol and Romain Bouvier, two far-right activists, joined by Le Priol's partner, Lyson R. After an initial confrontation, the two groups separated. Moments later, Le Priol and Bouvier found Aramburu and Hegarty, and a new altercation ensued. Bouvier then fired several shots at close range, killing Aramburu instantly.
What are the charges?
Loïk Le Priol will be tried for murder, while Romain Bouvier will appear for attempted murder. Lyson R., Le Priol's partner, will be tried for complicity in attempted murder. Another individual, Anthony R., will face charges of receiving stolen property and stealing an object to obstruct the discovery of the truth.
Loïk Le Priol was previously sentenced in 2022 to four years in prison, two of which were suspended, for torturing a former president of the Union Defense Group. Romain Bouvier, also a member of the GUD, was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with murder. Lyson R. was arrested and charged with complicity in murder.
The trial scheduled for September 2026 will clarify the circumstances of this murder and bring justice to the victim.
