The Rouen public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation following allegations of sexual abuse at a municipal daycare center. According to prosecutor Sébastien Gallois, the investigation is currently focusing on "a man and a woman" following a report filed by the town hall concerning alleged sexual assault of minors.
According to several locally reported sources, at least one complaint has been filed in this case. The two officers involved have been suspended from their duties as a precautionary measure pending the results of the judicial investigation.
Another complaint filed at a nursery school
The Rouen city council also indicated that it had filed a third separate complaint, this time concerning an after-school activity leader working in a local preschool. This individual has also been removed from working with the children and suspended pending further investigation.
This new case comes amid heightened vigilance regarding sexual violence involving staff supervising minors. For several months, several similar cases have emerged in Paris in connection with extracurricular activities organized in schools.
According to figures recently released by the Paris City Hall, several dozen youth leaders have been suspended since the beginning of 2026, some of them for suspected sexual abuse of minors.
