The players of the Iranian national team have obtained their visas for Mexico just days before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ending a source of concern that had been weighing on the team's preparation.

According to Iranian state media, Iran's ambassador to Turkey, Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh, indicated that the visas were issued in just 48 hours following discussions with the Mexican embassy in Ankara.

Notably, the players did not have to appear in person or provide their fingerprints, a procedure usually required for this type of application. This expedited process quickly removed administrative hurdles.

The issue of visas had become a major concern for the Iranian federation as the tournament approached. Federation spokesperson Amir Mehdi Alavi had recently indicated that the necessary documents were expected to be received in the final days.

The Iranian delegation is scheduled to travel to Tijuana, Mexico, on June 6 to continue its preparations before the start of the competition. Iran chose to relocate its pre-tournament training camp to Mexico rather than the United States, one of the three host countries of the World Cup along with Canada and Mexico.

Prior to this departure, the players have been in Antalya, on the Turkish Mediterranean coast, since May 19th for a training camp.

The swift granting of visas now allows the Iranian team to fully focus on its sporting objectives in the lead-up to the world competition, which will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
