Ariane Raedler and Katharina Huber of Austria won the gold medal in the new team combined event at the Milan-Cortina Olympics on Tuesday, while Mikaela Shiffrin finished fourth, surprisingly, after losing the advantage taken in the first set by her teammate Breezy Johnson.
Shiffrin, the most decorated female skier in World Cup history with a record of 108 wins, now continues seven consecutive Olympic races without a medalAfter winning two gold medals and one silver medal at her first two Olympic Games, she had already failed to win any medals in her six races at the Beijing Games four years ago.
Kira Weidle-Winkelmann and Emma Aicher, of Germany, won the silver medal, while Paula Moltzan and Jacqueline Wiles, of the United States, took the bronze.
