Toulouse: A mother and her teenagers are in police custody after an armed intrusion at a school.

A 44-year-old woman and two teenage boys were taken into custody after entering a school in central Toulouse armed with knives on Wednesday morning. According to the prosecutor's office, the three suspects entered the school with several bladed weapons before attacking two female students and a supervisor who tried to intervene.

The incident occurred at the Clémence-Isaure middle school, where a dispute between students is believed to have sparked the attack. According to initial findings, the mother was accompanied by her two children, aged 14 and 17. The suspects were armed with knives and a butcher's knife. Additional bladed weapons were also found in their vehicle during the investigation conducted by the criminal investigation department.

A supervisor targeted while trying to protect students

According to several locally reported accounts, the supervisor attempted to intervene to protect the schoolgirls who were being attacked. Despite the violence of the scene and the presence of weapons on school grounds, no injuries were ultimately reported. The three suspects were quickly apprehended by law enforcement and taken into custody for armed trespassing on school property and aggravated assault committed by a group.

The case comes amid a particularly tense climate surrounding violence in schools. For several months, attacks involving bladed weapons in or around schools have been causing serious concern within the educational community and among public authorities.

A possible context of school bullying

According to initial reports in the local press, the mother claimed she was defending her son, a student at the school, who she alleges was being bullied. A witness quoted by several media outlets also claims that the woman in her forties encouraged her son to "stab the school monitor" during the altercation, a point now being investigated.

The Toulouse prosecutor's office has entrusted the investigation to the criminal investigation department in order to precisely establish the sequence of events and the responsibilities of each individual involved. The questioning of the various parties involved was scheduled to continue Wednesday evening.
