American rapper Kanye West, banned from performing in several countries due to past anti-Semitic remarks, is expected to give concerts in the Netherlands next month after the Dutch Immigration Minister determined there was no legal basis to deny him entry into the country.
Dutch parliamentarians had asked the government to ban the artist, now known as Ye, from entering the country because of past controversial statements and remarks expressing admiration for Nazism and Adolf Hitler.
The Immigration Minister indicated, however, that despite the controversies surrounding the artist, the authorities did not have a sufficient legal basis to prohibit him from entering the Netherlands.
This decision comes as several countries and event organizers have already cancelled or refused performances by the artist in recent years following his statements.
