Fuel: Emmaus warns of the impact of rising prices on charities

In response to rising fuel prices linked to tensions in the Middle East, Emmaüs Solidarité is calling on public authorities to include the non-profit sector in aid programs. The organization emphasizes that it is not currently benefiting from any specific measures, unlike other sectors already receiving support.

Its director general emphasizes the need for swift consultation between government ministries and stakeholders on the ground, in order to provide appropriate responses to social welfare organizations. Associations are requesting to be included in the support mechanisms currently under consideration.

A direct impact on daily operations

Rising energy costs are directly impacting the association's operations, particularly due to the use of a fleet of vehicles and the logistical needs associated with food aid. This situation could lead to increased expenses and jeopardize some of its services.

Emmaüs Solidarité is also concerned about the consequences for its volunteers, whose travel expenses are becoming more costly. The organization fears that this financial pressure will ultimately affect its ability to assist the most vulnerable populations.
