A new heated argument erupted this Thursday during the parliamentary inquiry into public broadcasting. UDR deputy Charles Alloncle accused his MoDem colleague Erwan Balanant of threatening him during the session, after the latter allegedly pointed at him and said, "Don't worry, we'll sort you out." The rapporteur deemed these remarks "completely unacceptable," denouncing "thuggish behavior" and demanding sanctions.
The incident, which occurred during the hearing of Mediawan executives, immediately created a tense atmosphere and led the committee chairman to suspend proceedings. Upon resumption, Charles Alloncle referred to "repeated pressure" since the start of the committee's work and did not rule out filing a complaint if the National Assembly did not take firm action.
For his part, Erwan Balanant denies any threats. Speaking on behalf of X, the MoDem deputy claims he simply reacted to a gesture he deemed "obscene and disrespectful" on the part of the rapporteur. He maintains that his remarks were solely aimed at the substance of the debates and asks Charles Alloncle to withdraw his accusations, arguing that parliamentary exchanges "deserve better than pointless squabbles."
