A dramatic accident occurred Wednesday afternoon in Losone, in the canton of Ticino. A driver crashed into the vehicle of an elderly couple before attempting to flee. According to initial reports, the driver was traveling near the Ponte sulla Maggia roundabout when he struck the victims' car. Instead of stopping, he continued driving and quickly lost control of his vehicle, triggering a series of collisions.
A spectacular fall
After leaving the main road, the car struck a low wall before coming to rest in a parking lot below, hitting several parked vehicles. Images gathered at the scene show the wrecked car stopped on a lower level, with significant damage to several parked cars nearby. Witnesses described the scene as very dramatic and it quickly drew the attention of residents and passersby.
The Ticino cantonal police arrived at the scene to secure the area and conduct the initial investigation. The occupants of the vehicle that was initially struck were able to get out of the car without assistance, but their condition has not yet been specified.
Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported.
