A gendarme has filed a complaint with the courts alleging racist harassment within the Republican Guard, leading to an investigation in Paris, according to multiple sources. The 29-year-old officer filed his complaint in late 2025 and was interviewed by investigators a few weeks later.
According to her account, the events spanned several years and included discriminatory remarks and behavior within her professional environment. The trigger was allegedly the receipt of a letter containing racist insults, targeting in particular her origins and personal practices outside of work.
Accusations spanning several years
The complainant also mentions repeated remarks from his superiors and colleagues, as well as a climate of suspicion linked to his origins. He claims to have been subjected to attitudes and controls deemed unjustified both in the performance of his duties and in his daily life.
The National Gendarmerie has confirmed the existence of the ongoing investigation and reiterated that it has internal mechanisms in place to prevent and address discrimination. It emphasized its "zero tolerance" policy and provided reporting and support tools for affected personnel.
