Un young man A 19-year-old man died Wednesday early afternoon in a road accident on the highway between Colmar and Strasbourg. He was driving alone when his vehicle left the road on a section located in the Niedernai area, between Barr and Obernai. Traffic conditions were normal at the time of the accident.
The vehicle violently struck a tree before coming to rest in a field below the highway. Emergency services arrived quickly and, assisted by a medical team, began lengthy resuscitation attempts, but were unable to save the driver.
An investigation to determine the circumstances
Around fifteen firefighters from several stations in the area were mobilized. The gendarmes from the Sélestat highway patrol have opened an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The vehicle will undergo expert analysis and further examinations are planned.
