Aisne: A 14-year-old schoolgirl killed with a knife in Fère-en-Tardenois

A 14-year-old schoolgirl died on Wednesday in Fère-en-Tardenois, in the Aisne department, after being attacked with a knife. According to the Soissons prosecutor's office, the girl was found "very seriously injured" in the street around 8:00 a.m. She had multiple wounds caused by a bladed weapon. 

The rescue teams were unable to save her.

When emergency services arrived, the teenager was already dead, according to information released by the public prosecutor in Soissons. The precise circumstances of the attack are still under investigation. At this stage, authorities have not released any information regarding a possible motive or the identity of a suspect. 

Murder investigation opened

The Soissons public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into the murder. The investigation has been entrusted to the Amiens research section.

The perpetrator is actively being sought.

The perpetrator of the attack is being sought by law enforcement. A large police presence has been deployed in the area, including support from helicopters, drones, local GIGN units, and gendarmerie surveillance and intervention platoons. 

An emergency psychological support unit has been set up at the school the victim attended. This support is intended to help students and staff cope with the teenager's death.
