Édouard Philippe is already beginning to outline the composition of his potential government. During his political comeback in Tourcoing, the presidential candidate asserted his desire to surround himself with the "best," notably citing Gérald Darmanin among those with "command experience."

“I want the best,” declared Édouard Philippe, explaining that he was looking for individuals who “know how to lead people and change things.” The former Prime Minister then directly mentioned his supporter of the day: “Leaders like Gérald,” a statement that hints at the important role the Minister of Justice could play should he win in 2027.

Darmanin: Philippe is "the only person who can win"

A few minutes earlier, Gérald Darmanin had repeatedly expressed his support for the president of Horizons. He presented him as "the only person who can win the presidential election" and then secure a parliamentary majority. "I can assure you that his honesty, integrity, and personal qualities will make him not just a good, but a truly great president of the Republic," he also declared.

The Minister of Justice pledged his support for Édouard Philippe "with all [his] heart" and "with all [his] strength." He also took the opportunity to attack Marine Le Pen, whom he described as a "part-time northerner" who, according to him, engages in "social tourism" in the North.

In essence, Gérald Darmanin finally called on France to invest more in the future and reduce its economic dependence, particularly on the United States. This political comeback confirms the now-acknowledged alliance between the two men, with Édouard Philippe even publicly mentioning Gérald Darmanin among the profiles he might want alongside him in power.
