Sodexo plans to cut 1,097 jobs in France

Sodexo is considering cutting 1,097 jobs in France as part of a major restructuring plan. The catering and services group wants to free up resources for investment as it faces increased competition and evolving customer expectations.

The project affects 963 positions within Sodexo France, representing approximately 4% of its workforce, in addition to 134 jobs at its headquarters in Issy-les-Moulineaux. A voluntary departure phase will precede the implementation of a job protection plan. The company currently employs some 25,000 people and operates 4,000 sites across France.

A new strategic plan for 2030

These job cuts are part of the "Shift and Grow 2030" program, presented in July to improve the group's growth and performance. Sodexo intends, in particular, to invest in digital innovation, conquer new markets, and simplify its organization. Its CEO, Thierry Delaporte, acknowledged in April that the company had underinvested in certain skills and lacked consistency in the execution of its services.

Management has initiated an information and consultation process with employee representatives. Sodexo had already eliminated more than 2,000 jobs in France in 2020, when the health crisis severely impacted the catering industry. The group, which is presenting 2026 as a transition year, will publish its 2025-2026 fiscal year results on October 23.
