Nintendo unveiled the highly anticipated Switch 2, its new hybrid console, this Tuesday, April 2, during a 60-minute digital event. After months of rumors, the Japanese manufacturer is focusing on an improved version of its successful console, without revolutionizing its concept. And so it is now known and official: the Switch 2 will be released on June 5, 2025.
A more powerful and backward compatible console
Notable features of the Switch 2 include a 7,9-inch HDR LCD display with 1080p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The console will offer up to 120 frames per second depending on the game. It also has 256GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD. The new Joy-Con controllers attach magnetically and feature an additional “C” button to facilitate in-game voice chat via the “GameChat” feature.
Price-wise, the console will cost 469,99 euros, and 509,99 euros with Mario Kart.

The launch catalog will include titles such as Mario Kart World, the latest installment in the franchise, as well as established titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and Metroid Prime: Beyond. Other third-party games such as Elden Ring and Street Fighter 6 will be available.
Classics will also be available starting June 5, such as The Legend of #Zelda: The Wind Waker, SOULCALIBUR II and F-ZERO GX.
Pre-orders will begin on April 8, 2025.
