World Cup: USA-Australia for first place, Brazil-Haiti under pressure, Türkiye-Paraguay on the brink of elimination

The World Cup continues this Friday with four matches spread between groups C and D. Of the 48 teams, the top two from each group go to the round of 32, along with the eight best third-placed teams.

Today's schedule kicks off at 21 p.m. with the USA vs. Australia match at Lumen Field in Seattle. The game will be broadcast on M6, M6+, and beIN Sports 1. Both teams have had excellent starts to their tournaments: the USA defeated Paraguay 4-1, and Australia beat Turkey 2-0. Group D is therefore essentially split in two before this second round of matches: the Americans and Australians are tied with 3 points, while Turkey and Paraguay are tied with zero.

The stakes: the winner would take sole possession of first place in Group D with 6 points and take a giant step towards the round of 32. The United States plays at home, aiming to confirm their status as the host nation on a mission. Australia, meanwhile, can make a big statement by beating a co-host and virtually confirming their blistering start. Christian Pulisic remains doubtful for the Americans, having suffered a calf injury after the first match against Paraguay.

Scotland-Morocco, a scorching midnight in Boston

At midnight, Scotland faces Morocco in the Boston suburbs. The match will be broadcast on M6, M6+, and beIN Sports 1. Scotland leads Group C after its 1-0 victory against Haiti. Morocco, meanwhile, has already earned a valuable point against Brazil, who were held to a 1-1 draw in the first round of matches.

For Scotland, a victory would significantly improve their chances of reaching the round of 32 and put them in a strong position before their final match against Brazil. For Morocco, the objective is clear: to convert their draw against the Seleção into a real point gain. A Moroccan win would completely reshuffle Group C before the final matchday. A draw would keep both teams in contention, but would leave Brazil under pressure against Haiti.

Brazil-Haiti, the Seleção can no longer afford to linger.

At 02:30 AM, Brazil vs. Haiti will kick off in Philadelphia, on beIN Sports 1. Brazil has only one point after its draw against Morocco. Haiti has zero after its narrow defeat against Scotland. The Group C standings before kickoff are straightforward: Scotland 3 points, Morocco 1, Brazil 1, Haiti 0.

Brazil must win to regain the lead and avoid a tense final match against Scotland. For Haiti, the game is crucial: even a single point would keep the Grenadiers alive, especially in the battle for the best third-placed teams. A second defeat would severely jeopardize their chances of advancing. The balance of power is skewed, but the situation is clear: Brazil must respond, while Haiti must survive.

Türkiye-Paraguay, woe to the loser

The night will end at 05 a.m. with Turkey vs. Paraguay in Santa Clara, broadcast on beIN Sports 1. It's already a survival match in Group D. Turkey lost 2-0 to Australia, while Paraguay fell 4-1 to the United States. Both teams have zero points and a negative goal difference.

The winner will be back in contention before the final matchday. The loser will find themselves with their backs against the wall, their chances of qualifying drastically reduced. For Turkey, it's about erasing the memory of a disappointing start despite fielding a highly anticipated squad. For Paraguay, returning to the World Cup after a long absence, the urgency is both defensive and in terms of points: suffering a second defeat would put the South American team on the brink of elimination.
