Amine Elbahi (CNEWS commentator) files a complaint with Arcom against CNews and publicly defends his action.

CNews commentator Amine Elbahi confirmed on Tuesday that he had filed a complaint with the French Audiovisual and Digital Communication Regulatory Authority (Arcom) following Mediapart's revelations concerning several complaints against his own channel. This is a rare situation in the French media landscape, and it comes amidst controversy surrounding the program "100% Frontières" and its director, Erik Tegnér.

In a message posted on X, Amine Elbahi explains that he has "taken responsibility" to ensure that Arcom examines the implications of "new information regarding Erik Tegnér's political situation" with respect to the rules of fairness in speaking time and respect for pluralism. He specifically refers to a Splann article identifying Erik Tegnér as a member of Marion Maréchal's Identity-Liberties party.

The columnist asserts that "in a democracy, everyone is free to hold their own political views," but believes that this freedom also implies "fully embracing one's opinions and not hiding behind a facade." According to him, as the 2027 presidential campaign approaches, "the quality, fairness, and transparency of public debate" must remain fundamental requirements for all media and political actors.

Aware of the potential consequences this action could have on his personal and professional life, Amine Elbahi nevertheless maintains that "the demand for truth and sincerity in public debate" takes precedence over all other considerations. This stance comes amidst tensions that have arisen in recent weeks surrounding the program "100% Frontières" and some of its participants.
