Family tragedy in Spain: a 25-year-old man accused of killing his parents in a shooting

A shooting in El Ejido, southern Spain, overnight Monday to Tuesday left at least two people dead and four seriously injured. Spanish police announced the arrest of a 25-year-old man suspected of killing his parents before wounding several others, including his son.

According to the Guardia Civil, the incident occurred shortly after 23 p.m. in the town located in the province of Almeria. Law enforcement was alerted after several reports of gunshots coming from a residence where the tragedy unfolded.

Authorities have confirmed that the two deceased victims were the suspect's parents. Four other people were also injured in the shooting and taken to the hospital in serious condition. These include the suspect's son, another minor, and a man and a woman whose identities have not been released.

The exact circumstances of the tragedy remain unclear, and investigators are now trying to establish the precise sequence of events as well as the suspect's motives. No official information has yet been released regarding a possible family dispute or psychological issues.

This incident has sparked outrage in the El Ejido region, a major agricultural municipality in southern Spain rarely confronted with this type of violence. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine if other people were present at the scene when the shooting occurred.

The suspect has been taken into custody and is expected to be brought before the Spanish justice system soon as part of the investigation opened for homicide and attempted homicide.
