The United States urged Syrian authorities on Sunday to hold accountable « extremist terrorists » responsible for killings in Syria, and stated that it stands by the country’s religious and ethnic minorities.
In a statement, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said: « The United States condemns extremist terrorists, including foreign militants, who have killed people in western Syria in the past few days. »
Syrian authorities announced yesterday the reinforcement of security forces in the coastal region in the west of the country and the imposition of « control » over areas that have witnessed clashes, while reports indicated that more than 700 people have been killed in clashes between Syrian security forces and armed groups.
