The Paper: The Office spin-off delves into a local newspaper in crisis

The Office's famous camera swaps the offices of Dunder Mifflin for the far less prestigious Toledo Truth Teller. In The Paper, a new spin-off expected September 4 on the American platform Peacock, the fictional documentary team this time focuses on a regional daily newspaper that's gone bust, located in the same premises as a toilet paper factory.

A shaky editorial team led by an optimistic editor-in-chief

At the helm of this sinking ship, Ned Sampson (Domhnall Gleeson) is trying to revive a team of mostly volunteer, and sometimes completely novice, journalists. His mission: to send them "on a news hunt" to save the newspaper from liquidation. Alongside Gleeson, the cast includes Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus), Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key, and Oscar Nuñez, who reprises his role as Oscar Martinez, still facing the intrusive eye of the cameras.

The tone and creative team of The Office

Led by Greg Daniels, who also served as showrunner for the American version of The Office, and Michael Koman, with Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant as executive producers, The Paper retains the mockumentary format and absurd humor that made the cult sitcom a success. While no release date or broadcaster has yet been announced for France, the trailer hints at a mix of uncomfortable situations, irresistible awkwardness, and deliciously offbeat portraits.
