Labrinth breaks with "Euphoria" in an explosive message

Just weeks before Euphoria's return, British composer Labrinth surprised everyone by publicly announcing his departure from the entertainment industry. In a message posted on Instagram on March 13, the artist directly attacked his label, Columbia Records, as well as the HBO series for which he composed the soundtrack. This abrupt exit comes as the show's third season is expected in April.

A scathing message against Columbia Records and the series

In this message, widely circulated by the media, Labrinth states that he is leaving the industry and settling scores with his partners. "I'm done with this industry. Columbia, fuck you. Euphoria, fuck you too. I'm out of here. Thank you and goodnight," he writes in the post. The artist has not, however, provided any explanation for this decision.

This outburst of anger comes at a time when the musician seemed recently involved in the new season of the series. According to Franceinfo Culture, Labrinth was to participate in composing the music for season 3 alongside composer Hans Zimmer, a collaboration he himself had presented as a "new chapter" in the musical universe of Euphoria.

A departure that worries fans of the series

Since its first season aired in 2019, Labrinth has held a central place in the artistic identity of the series created by Sam Levinson. Its soundtrack, featuring tracks like "All for Us" with Zendaya, has largely contributed to establishing the dark and hypnotic atmosphere of the show.

The third season of Euphoria is set to premiere on HBO on April 12, after several years of delays due in part to strikes in Hollywood. However, the announced departure of the composer who shaped the series' soundscape could significantly alter the musical atmosphere of this new season.
