Roland-Garros: Zverev beats Mensik and reaches the final

Alexander Zverev will play his second French Open final on Sunday. The German, seeded third, defeated Jakub Mensik in four sets in the semifinals: 7-5, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. He is one win away from his first Grand Slam title.

Zverev maintains his position

Alexander Zverev secured his place in the French Open final with a convincing victory over Czech Jakub Mensik, ranked 27th in the world. The German prevailed in four sets, after a three-hour match on Court Philippe-Chatrier. Following a tight first set, which he won 7-5, Zverev took a commanding lead in the second, which he won 6-2. Mensik rallied in the third set, which he won 6-3, but the German regained control in the fourth to clinch the set 6-3 and seal the match.

A fourth Grand Slam final

This qualification sends Zverev to a Grand Slam final for the fourth time in his career. At Roland-Garros, it will be his second final.

Still seeking his first Grand Slam title, the German will have another opportunity on Sunday to take the final step. On the Parisian clay, he confirmed his status as favorite against a tenacious Mensik, who was less consistent over the course of the tournament.

An Italian awaits him in the final

In the final, Zverev will face an Italian player. His opponent will be either Matteo Arnaldi, ranked 104th in the world, or Flavio Cobolli, ranked 14th. Their semi-final is scheduled to begin at 19 p.m.
