The Czech player refused to provide a sample. This refusal was subsequently reviewed by an independent tribunal, which determined that there was insufficient justification to dismiss the anti-doping rule violation.
Under anti-doping regulations, this type of refusal is treated extremely severely. A player cannot avoid a heavy penalty simply by refusing to submit to the test.
A shaky defense
In her defense, Marketa Vondrousova explained that her psychological state had influenced her reaction. She cited stress, mental health difficulties, and concerns about her personal safety at the time of the inspector's visit. These explanations did not convince the court. A ban on playing, coaching, and even attending events
