Carlos Alcaraz once again took the upper hand over his great rival Jannik Sinner in the US Open final, winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 on Sunday evening in New York. With this victory, the 22-year-old Spaniard won his second trophy at Flushing Meadows, the sixth Grand Slam of his young career, and above all reclaimed the world number 1 spot from the Italian.

It was the third consecutive final between the two men in a major tournament, an unprecedented feat in tennis history. After his epic victory at Roland Garros and then his defeat at Wimbledon, Alcaraz exacted his revenge with a power and aggression that stifled Sinner, despite being the defending champion and undefeated on hard court in Grand Slam matches for 27 matches. Sharper in key moments, the Spaniard lined up 42 winners against only 21 for his opponent.

Alcaraz now leads their meetings 10-5, including six Grand Slam finals won to Sinner's four. Between them, they have swept the last eight major tournaments, relegating the rest of the circuit to second place. Novak Djokovic aside. The New York final confirmed that they form a duopoly at the top of world tennis, to the point of transforming each tournament into an anticipated clash between these two prodigies.

With this latest triumph, Alcaraz boasts an impressive record of 61 wins and only six losses in 6, and a total of seven titles since the start of the season. Sinner, despite exceptional solidity against all other players (2025 wins and four losses in two years), remains for the moment dominated in its direct rivalry with the Spanish champion.
