Yanis Marshall hasn't gotten over how his Star Academy adventure ended . With the release of his book, * Je vous conseil de ne pas le dire* (I Advise You Not to Tell ), scheduled for November 5th, the former dance teacher revisits his decision not to renew his contract and, above all, what happened after his departure. The choreographer, who had already begun to reveal the hardships recounted in his book , now directly accuses the Star Academy world of a profound lack of humanity.
"All season long, we were told we were a family."
Yanis Marshall first criticizes the image of a large family regularly promoted around the program. It's an expression he now vehemently rejects: "All season long, we were told we were a family. I hate that term." According to him, this displayed closeness abruptly ended as soon as he learned he wouldn't be returning.
The former teacher claims he was completely sidelined: "From the moment my contract wasn't renewed, no one contacted me anymore. You're useless to them, they don't need you anymore. A bunch of hypocrites." These are particularly harsh words against a show where he had been one of the most prominent figures during its big return to TF1 in 2022.
"Squeezed like a lemon and thrown away like shit"
Yanis Marshall primarily describes a brutal break after several weeks spent at the heart of the television machine. "I suffered from the lack of humanity, from this lack of empathy at the end ," he states, before using an even more violent expression: "I felt squeezed like a lemon and thrown away like trash, when it was at that moment that I most needed a helping hand."
The contrast he describes is stark between the period during the show and the aftermath of Star Academy . "During the season, it's fantastic. But the aftermath is simply awful , " he writes. He particularly claims that he was offered no support at the time: "No psychological counseling, no help whatsoever."
This non-renewal had deeply affected him.
Yanis Marshall was a dance teacher during the 2022 season of Star Academy , which was won by Anisha Jo. He was not retained for the following season. As early as 2023, the choreographer publicly explained that his departure was not his choice and spoke of the severe anxiety attacks he was experiencing at the time, as well as his alcohol consumption during this particularly difficult period.
He explained that the production company and TF1 had decided in February 2023 not to continue working with him. Yanis Marshall also claimed that he had been asked to publicly present his absence as the result of "personal projects," whereas, according to him, it was a decision made by the network and the production company.

These new accusations are featured in * Je vous conseil de ne pas le dire* (I Advise You Not to Say It ), his first book, due out on November 5, 2026, from Leduc publishers. The book addresses topics such as HIV, addiction, sexual violence, excess, and the consequences of fame. Yanis Marshall recounts a particularly intimate part of his life, several years after his time on Star Academy.
His revelations come as the program is already preparing a new chapter in its history. For the next season, Mosimann has been chosen to succeed Michael Goldman as director of the castle , 18 years after he himself won Star Academy.
